Before I ever had kids, my husband and I knew we wanted to homeschool our kids. Well, it didn’t quite work out that way for us. I had to go back to the classroom due to financial needs, so my daughter started preschool in private Christian school. Later, she tried public school, which was a disaster and led us to homeschooling.
In January of third grade, we removed our daughter from public school and brought her home to learn. I could see the difference immediately. My daughter went from a miserable student to a very happy one. What about you? What is your story? Are you an accidental homeschooler or an intentional homeschooler? What is your style of homeschooling? Are you a traditional homeschooler, or do you lean toward unschooling? We started out as traditional homeschoolers because of my teaching background. Several years later, we evolved into unschoolers. I must say it was a hard transition for me, but definitely not for my daughter. She took to it like white on rice! I do have to admit, while I tend to worry about whether or not she is getting enough, she is happy and flourishing. That is the beauty of homeschooling, whatever works for you is O.K.!
